The main objectives in this area are to improve Brazil’s anti-discrimination legislation and to train those working in the legal system on how to deal with race issues. CEERT drafts bills and conducts legal research regarding anti-discrimination legislation in Brazil in order to improve legal instruments and legal defenses in the promotion of race and gender equality. The Center provides technical advisory services to legislators, public agencies, trade unions, universities, companies and others to ensure the rights of Afro-Brazilians, and has achieved important victories in many different courts across Brazil.
